After dying a grisly death in an Afghan cave, Osama made his way to the pearly gates.
There, he was greeted by George Washington.
"How dare you attack the nation I helped conceive!" yelled Washington, slapping Osama in the face.
Patrick Henry came up from behind. "You wanted to end America's liberty, so they gave you death!" Henry punched Osama in the nose.
James Madison came next, and said, "This is why I allowed the government provide for the common defense!" He took a sledge hammer and whacked Osama's knees.
Osama was subjected to similar beatings from John Randolph, James Monroe, and 65 other people who had the same love for liberty and America. As he writhed on the ground, Thomas Jefferson hurled him back toward the gate where he was to be judged.
As Osama awaited his journey to his final very hot destination, he screamed, "This is not what I was promised!"
An angel replied, "I told you there would be 72 Virginians waiting for you. What did you think I said?"

There's no possible way that this could be implemented. Think about it, there are almost 100,000 congregations worldwide. The society would have to think of 100,000 ways to say the same thing in their letters to the bodies of elders worldwide in order to have each letter be distinct. How many man hours would that require? And they would have to do the same thing for every single letter that gets sent out.
Even if the society decided to follow through with this, how would you determine which elder leaked the information? Couldn't the elders simply deny having done it or claim that the letter was stolen from the congregation archives. The foul odor coming from that rumor is suffocating. I wouldn't pay any attention to it.
No, it's not that complicated. The content of the letter could be the same; it could just be the secretary:author initials that are different (i.e., "KBG:CIA" at the top). That being said, I think it's more likely that somebody that DOESN'T WANT letters to BOE posted (a CO, DO, or even the WTS themselves) that posted the initial item in this thread, masquerading as a "tip", but with information that will obviously NOT be implemented, for logistic reasons, just to "scare" anybody that HAS been leaking info into thinking "maybe I better stop or I'll get caught". No actual changes implemented, mission accomplished. Except that there will still be those that "don't care!" and will post the letters anyhow... So, long and short of it, I don't think the Society is really going to do this. If they ARE, if the information is genuine, then there really is some cult paranoia going on at Brooklyn. As somebody else said, they obviously don't trust Jehovah or the Holy Spirit to deal with it in due season.

Parody of Song 113: "We're No Longer Witnesses!"
by TJ - iAmCleared2Land inbeing in "the truth" forever, i keep (frustratingly) finding myself humming kingdom songs unintentionally.
it frustrates me when i find myself doing it!.
so today i got this song in my head, and couldn't get it unstuck, so i decided to write alternate lyrics to it... when i get that tune in my head now, i'll have words that work!

Give your money to the WTBTS when you die
by TJ - iAmCleared2Land inanother thread discussed how people are encouraged in annual wt articles, service meeting parts, and visits from elders when they are elderly and dying, to consider leaving some or all of their property to the society.
here's proof that they profit handsomely from this activity.
found this searching www.guidestar.org (has filings on charities/trusts):.

Yet another reason it's "a big deal":
w58 4/15 p.237 The Time to Sing the New Song******
WHY
TIME FOR THE NEW SONG11
Are there any of that holy new nation on earth today in the twentieth century of the Christian era? There are. There are just a remnant or a number still remaining on earth of spirit-anointed ones who have the assurance from God that a place has been reserved for them in the heavenly kingdom. But though they are the remnant of a nation, the new nation of spiritual Israel, we do not find them joining the United Nations organization as one of its members, the way the recently formed nation of modern Israel has joined the United Nations. The eighty-two members of the United Nations show they do not want the holy new nation in, but the remnant of Jehovah’s nation under Christ have never applied to get in. The United Nations belongs to this old world, which is facing a disastrous end very soon. The remnant of spiritual Israel belongs to the new world founded upon the heavenly King Jesus Christ. The old is bound to pass away in our day. The new is bound to stay forever. -

Still_in74:
Is being listed on the DPI as an NGO really that big of a deal?
It's "touching the unclean thing." They advise witnesses that they can not do anything, anything to support a church, including fixing their roof if you're a roofer or cleaning the carpets if you're a carpet cleaner. You can't cut HAIR in a barber shop on a military base.
But they can be a "non-government organization" affiliated with the United Nations just so they can utilize their resources??

Changing vs 3; line 4 had one too many syllables compared to the original.
3. Once you're free it's not the same,
No more will you play their game!
No!! You are NOT wicked
As they'll try to claim.
Welcome to the world, my friend,
Live your life, you're free of them!
Thus a non-witness finds joy and peace;
How good it is to be released!! -

Your "Good Hope" money pledges (1917)
by TJ - iAmCleared2Land inon another thread, we discussed the instruction from the society (surrounding kh financing) to pass around scraps of paper on which the publishers could put "pledges" for planning purposes.
found this today while examing the older mags.
seems this practice isn't new.

On another thread, we discussed the instruction from the Society (surrounding KH financing) to pass around scraps of paper on which the publishers could put "pledges" for planning purposes. Found this today while examing the older mags. Seems this practice isn't new. You'll find the language in the pledge to be interesting:
YOUR "GOOD HOPES" FOR 1917
[The plan here proposed we designate "GOOD HOPES," because nothing is actually promised--only your generous hopes expressed, based upon your future prospects as they now appear to you. The plan has proved not only so beneficial to the cause of Truth but also so blessed to the hopers, for some years past, that we again commend it to all as Scriptural and good. Those who desire to make use of this plan can fill out both of these memoranda. One should be kept for the refreshment of your memory; the other mail to us.]
----TO THE----
"WATCH TOWER BIBLE & TRACT SOCIETY."Dear Friends:--I have read with interest of the openings for the STUDIES and Tract work in foreign lands and here at home. I need not tell you that I am deeply interested in the spread of the Glad Tidings of the lengths and breadths, the heights and depths of redeeming love expressed for us in God's great Plan of the Ages.
I am anxious to use myself--every power, every talent, voice, time, money, influence, all--to give to others this knowledge, which has so greatly blessed, cheered and comforted my own heart and placed my feet firmly upon the Rock of Ages.
I have been considering carefully, and praying to be instructed, [my comment: since the Society wrote the letter FOR the individual, how could they possibly know what they were doing/praying about?!] how to use my various talents more to my Redeemer's glory and for the service of His people--those blinded by human tradition who are, nevertheless, hungering for "the good Word of God," and those also who are naked, not having on the wedding garment of Christ's imputed righteousness, the unjustified, who stand, at best, in the filthy rags of their own righteousness. I have decided that so far as my "money talent" goes, I will follow the rule so clearly laid down for us by the great Apostle Paul (1 Cor. 16:2), and will lay aside on the first day of each week, according to my thankful appreciation of the Lord's blessings during the preceding week. Out of this fund I wish to contribute to the several parts of the Lord's work carried on by our Tract Society. Of course, I cannot in advance judge or state particularly what the Lord's bounty may enable me to set apart weekly, and hence you will understand the sum indicated to be merely my conjecture or hope, based upon present prospects. I will endeavor to contribute more than I here specify; and should I not succeed in doing as well, the Lord will know my heart and you, also, will know of my endeavors.
My only object in specifying in advance what I hope to be able to do in this cause is to enable those in charge of the work of publishing and circulating the Tracts, etc., to form estimates, lay plans, make contracts, etc., with some idea of what I will at least try to do in the exercise of this, my highly appreciated privilege.
My present judgment is that during the coming year, by self-denial and cross-bearing, I shall be able to lay aside on the first day of each week for Home and Foreign Mission Work (to assist in circulating SCRIPTURE STUDIES in foreign languages, and in publishing the BIBLE STUDENTS MONTHLY in various languages, and in supplying these gratuitously to brethren who have the heart and opportunity to circulate them widely, and in meeting the expenses of brethren sent out as Lecturers to preach the Divine Plan of Salvation, and in general to be expended as the officers of the Society may deem best), the amount of........................per week.
To comply with United States Postal Laws, all or any portion of my donation may be applied as subscription price for WATCH TOWER sent to the Lord's poor or others, as the Society's officers may deem advisable.
That the work be not hindered, I will endeavor to send you what I shall have laid aside for this cause at the close of each quarter. I will secure a Bank Draft, Express Order or Postal Money Order as I may find most convenient, and will address the letter to

Why I Loved the 2007 Convention "Follow the Christ"!
by V ini attended friday's part of the 2007 district convention "follow the christ" with my believing wife.
we survived the limited parking and crowded seating (although large sections of the auditorium had been shut off).
we suffered the monotonous program delivered by robotic speakers reading rehashed outlines.. so why did i love this convention?.

Disgusting comment re: holy spirit from the Tacoma 2007 District Convention
by TJ - iAmCleared2Land inthe thread re: education at the tacoma convention inspired this.
my sister called me this morning, she had the convention in tacoma last weekend.
she said she tried not to listen as much as possible, but the comment that got her steamed was this:.

She's a JW and tried not to take in "food in due season"???? There's hope for her yet!
My poor sis has been in an abusive marriage (emotionally, verbally) for a long time. I think it's coming to an end. She's ready to get out, regardless of how / what others think. The Society's advise to "stay together no matter what" is greatly coloring her view of "the truth".
In fact, she mentioned in her phone call to me the talk that was given at the DC about the need for families to stay together and work through things, not to give up and divorce like the "world" does when the going gets tough. She said it disgusted her... "so Jehovah wants me to continue to live with an abusive husband?"
